                                    1.Simon Bolibar(Venezuela)

Origins and family…. is important because

Simón Bolívar was born in Caracas on July 24th of 1783, descendant of a family of Basque origin established in Venezuela since the end of the XVI century and which occupied a distinguished social and economic position in the province.

                             2.Christopher Columbus.

This event is important because…….. =

Christopher Columbus was that first European to come to Venezuela during his third voyage into the new world, in 1498. The country was once a set of tropical forests, beaches, and grasslands which is the Carib, Arawak and Chibcha tribes territory.

                            3.LAS HERMANAS MIRABAL

    This event is important because………..

The Mirabal sisters (Patria Mirabal, Minerva Mirabal and Maria Teresa Mirabal) were the Dominican Republic who fervently opposed the dictatorship of Rafael Leonidas Trujillo. A fourth sister, Belgium Adela “Dede” Mirabal, had no active role in the activities made against the dictator.

                                        4. slavery

This is important because all the kingdoms in Ghana were involved, and most kingdoms were wiped out by the stronger kingdoms.

                             5.   colonisation

This event is important because,  1788 - Which comes back to the argument which none can deny - namely that if Britain had not begun the process of colonisation in 1788, some other nation most certainly would have moved in before the end of the 18th century….”

Also, please put 12 quotes from your story on your blog. For each one, explain why you chose it (why is it important?).

    1) “There ‘s so much suffering. We have so much, and others have so little. So i was just thinking that, you know,if we look a tiny portion of what we have, which we don’t really need, and send it to the people who need it….”

This line is important its basically say that they should help people other because they think people need their helps and also they have to  give to the people that want  help from them and they should share apart of what they have to others that need help.

2)” I just want to do something”says  Brad

It means that since Brad just staying like not doing anything so as he saw how people were suffering,he wants to help others that want something to eat.

3)” I also hope it’s better than your idea about installing heat sensors in old people’s underwear.”says Doris

It means that Doris wants to bring the heat sensors in the house but his wife doesn’t want because the wife think that by bring the heat sensors would not change anything.

4)”The poor things,he thinks. The poor, poor things.I should have done more.I should have started earlier.I could have seen it all as part of me”
It means that if he thinks a poor idea and the stuff he should do is  that he should have start too early in another to accomplish all.

    5)”I’m afraid so” says Chaz

He is scared of things that are been going on because he things if the bad things happen to him he would learn from the mistake.
6)”He is going, and will not be coming back as Brad.”

It means that person will leave as Brad did and the  person will not coming back because Brad i left with a negative feeling that he did not want  to have.

7)”Tell us again how this baby got in here?”says Chaz Wayne.

It means that there is a baby that they find but they don’t know where the baby came  from so they wondering where did the baby came from but as they did not know they decide to give the baby a name.

8)”It’s wonderful to see everyone doing their part”says Chaz Wayne

Its that Wayne was impress  to see everyone working hard and to get their part done as well as he wants to get done.

9)”There is not country in the history of the world as lucky as us.” Says Grandpa

This line is important because Grandpa see how people are suffering in different country and them they do not suffer in their country they are all living happily and they have everything they want.

10)”There are countries where people could live one one year on what we throw out in one week.”says Grandpa.

Basically Grandpa is saying they should not throwing stuff away when people are in the others side need  and people are dying to get those necessary but them they just waist those in a week.

11)”We ‘ve been so busy lately, things are so Topsy-turvy lately, hardly a minute to think.”says Doris.

I think it means that they were so occupy  doing their activities which is hard for them to think about all the stuffs that is going on.

12)You love Brad but you’re hot for me,”says Chief Wayne

It means that Chief Wayne was trying to flirt with the wife of the Brad which he might probably be in love with her.

Explain how the concepts in your outcome from this week are related to your story. Do this in at least two paragraphs. Don’t forget to say what story you are reading and what outcome you are working with.

018.0910: Student analyzes George Saunders’ stories through the lens of moral dilemmas, altruism, and egoism.

Me and the people a my table we choose to work with the outcome 018.0910 (Student analyzes George Saunders’s stories throught the lens of moral dilemmas, altruism, and egoism). Our story is ”brad carrigan, american” which story shows moral dilemmas and egoism. This help us analyze that alway in any story their is something to find out.

This  moral dilemma is show when the protagonist (brad) has to decide to save the life of a baby. But by been influence for his wife he thought that  by killing  the baby was an option that other people wanted that i was going to help that, but he dint want to do it. Brad has a good hart and he really wanted to help the baby because the baby’s sickness with is a big problem for the baby and it can kill hem. However on the other hand, Brad’s wife (Doris) and the other family members wanted to rid off of the baby. Doris only and alway will think about having fun with other mans, and not  caring about others. Also the other members dont want to event thing about baby because that make them to have a lot of reality decision that they have to do with the baby. They say that the best think that they can do is kill the baby As you can see Brad’s family shows egoism because they are thinking about themself only and nobody else. this is something that need to be fix about everyone»>

    Letter for dolan

    Dear Mr.

Dolan last week’s outcome was: Student applies sociological imagination to their own lives and to the lives of others. Sociological imagination is when a there is personal troubles and public issues. To apply this to my own life i need to think what happen since i born. i prove this to other lives cause i did a flash fiction in witch talk about personal trouble and the public issue. i feel good about the work i had done so far, i trying to focus on the main idea of the outcome and do the right steps to be successful. And how one personal trouble can affect society as a whole.

    Part 1:

    Personal Trouble:

-The belief for different people about how life is about and the way how they live it. In this picture the group of people was the hippies that were against wars and another things against love. Also there were the army that was against the hippies and they were aiming them with guns to stop their living and make them change the way to think.

    Connection:

    - The connection is that both groups (Hippies and Army) has a specific belief of how life should look like. And both are deffending these beliefs byusing guns or using a flower.

    Public issue:

    - It becomes public when everybody got involve it. Because both groups were expressing their beliefs in different way but showing to the other that are wrong. A war between these two groups of people can happens because the different way to see the world.

    Flash-fiction story

There was a time when a group of dogs were agains cats because they were different. One day the dogs reveled against the cats because they were too messy and dogs were really orginize animals. There started a fight because cats beliefs that mess is not important as other issues, but dogs were thinking the opposite. In a moment they were fight until cats see that they were doing wrong and were affecting other cats’ and dogs’ mind by doing this.

    Reflection

My story connects to sociology imagination because something that you believe (could be the way that you think different from other). Make an impact in the mind from the other that think the opposite to it and there is a problem. Because no matter from were you see the issue, they both think in a different way and they will not change until something really bad happen to one of the sides.

                                   Personal Troubles and Public Issues

A private trouble is when there is a personal dilemma. Private trouble does not concern the community. For example if there is a problem between a marriage and they decided to divorce, is just their business if they are or aren’t getting divorce. Of course that it affects the family, but the neighbors and the public has nothing to do with.

A public issue is when there is a problem concerning the society as a whole. This can include education, health, and much more. An example could be every one concern of getting the shut for the H1N1 virus. Everybody was very worry of this health issue. Also it could be everyone trying to do whatever they can so the government can pass a law in order  for the government to give health insurance to the public including those who are illegal in this country.
